New York, 1969
Out on the town and headed for dinner and a play. Dinner will be at Marchi's. We know the family. The food is extraordinary. A lovely bottle of Valpolicella will pair nicely with all courses. We go early. Taxi ride to the Mark Hellinger Theatre is unusually smooth. No stress. We settle into our seats excited to see Katharine Hepburn's portrayal of fashion icon, "Coco" Chanel.
Drawing on the casual chic look popularized by Chanel, this coat is simple, yet sophisticated. It is made from black and camel houndstooth, a classic wool pattern, originally used in outer garments worn by shepherds in 19th Century Scotland. Lined with fleece for extra warmth. Faux pocket flaps and a self-belt with gold chain add a bit of whimsy.
